Our Top 8 Reasons Why We Love RV Life

Our Top 8 Reasons Why
We Love RV Life

“Not all who wander are lost” – J.R.R. Tolkien

Eagle Harbor, Michigan on Lake Superior

We love full-time RV life. Here are 8 reasons why (in no particular order):

1. The shorter amount of time it takes to clean our 355 square foot home vs. our sticks ‘n bricks before. A shorter amount of time to clean = more time to explore, enjoy, and relish the moments.

Love having a smaller space to clean.

2. The ability to chase 70-degree weather or your preferred temperature whenever you want. This is the motto of almost every full-time RVer. Everyone wants to chase the good weather and skip the bad weather.

3. Experiencing local cuisine. We have had pasties in Michigan, Italian beef at Portillo’s in Chicago, crawfish and gumbo in Louisiana, tenderloins in Illinois, and a wide menu in between. If you have never been to a Louisiana crawfish boil, find your way to a local’s backyard, push up those sleeves, and enjoy.

15 Tips to Maximize Your Adventure
“Off The Beaten Path Studio Tour”
August 5, 2021

Tucked away in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas, you will find Mountain View. A community of 2,900 people whose economy primarily stems from tourism related to being the ‘Folk Capital of the World’. They strive to uphold traditions of folk music and culture that were common in days gone by.

One of the facets of Mountain View and the surrounding area is the artists and artisans that call this part of Arkansas home. Once a year, participating private studios open their doors for a special event. While it is rare in this area, it is more common and known in larger communities and cities as ‘art walks’. This ‘art walk’ is by vehicle and is recognized by its title “Off The Beaten Path Studio Tour”.

This is a unique way to admire and enjoy not only the local talents, but to discover the mountains, backroads, valleys, and nature that endears so many to this area.

“Off The Beaten Path Studio Tour” will take place in 2021 on September 17, 18, and 19. This will be their 20th anniversary.

Alligators, Wildlife, Oh My!

“Alligators, Wildlife, Oh My! “

8 Tips to Maximize Your Experience on Pintail Drive
August 3, 2021

In the wildlife-rich bayous of Southwest Louisiana, a simple drive down LA-27 towards the Gulf of Mexico from Lake Charles takes you by a gem that will wow young and old alike. It is a 9,621-acre area full of wildlife, alligators, and migratory birds. Officially known as Cameron Prairie National Wildlife Refuge, Pintail Drive, and Boardwalk. This refuge is managed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services and is open year-round. There is no fee to enter this drive-thru experience. A simple entrance sign indicates the location. Pull in, drive slowly and start your adventure. Oh, and have your camera or phone ready to take pictures.

Shortly after entering the one-way road, a parking area is present for a boardwalk stroll through the wetland. At the time of this blog (August 2021), the boardwalk was closed due to damage from 2020 hurricanes that battered the area. Hopefully, it will reopen soon, as walking on the boardwalk through the wetlands is a genuine experience.

Happy 50th

Happy 50th

July 28, 2021

My little hands reached for the candy apple red, plastic long-handled spoon anxious to taste the soft vanilla ice cream, salty Spanish peanuts, and gooey hot fudge. My taste buds already recognized that this was the perfect bite. A life-long love began with my favorite treat.

The Dairy Queen Peanut Buster Parfait and I turned 50 this year.
